Meet the Admin

For Miesha Brown, Black Southern California began with a simple idea: create the kind of community she wanted to see—one where Black people could connect, support one another, build relationships, discover opportunities, and experience Southern California together.

 

Miesha is the Founder of Black Southern California (BSC). What started as a regional community has grown into a network connecting thousands of Black individuals, families, entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, and community leaders throughout Southern California.

 

As the community grew, so did Miesha’s vision.

 

Drawing from her background in hospitality, tourism, marketing, event logistics, entrepreneurship, and community development, Miesha began building BSC into more than an online group. She wanted to create a community that people could experience in real life.

 

Miesha believes community is about more than having people in the same space. It is about creating real connections and a true sense of belonging. Whether supporting a Black-owned business, producing an experience that brings hundreds of people together, developing community partnerships, connecting families with resources, or simply introducing people who may never have met otherwise, her goal remains the same: build the village.

 

As Black Southern California continues to grow, Miesha’s vision is for BSC to become a lasting community institution—one that connects people across Southern California, creates opportunities, strengthens Black businesses and families, and helps move the community from simply surviving to thriving and building legacy.
